Judge:
Mr. Peter Baynes (USA)
"I would like to than the officers of this
well-organised Club for inviting me to judge their 31st Championship Show,
and to the exhibitors for their gracious acceptance of my placings.
I could not have survived without the invaluable help of my ring steward,
Judith Starkey, which made the whole experience very enjoyable for me.
I was very impressed with the
side movement of nearly all the exhibits, a feature which I can only
explain as being purely Australian, as you have large outdoor rings in
which to move your dogs. Therefore I should imagine poor side
movement cannot be tolerated, as it is in some countries. I must
admit that some are inclined to lose the unique Vizsla outline on the
move, and that did factor into some of my decisions. Also I did find
that several exhibits were not as true down and back as I would have
liked.
On the plus side, temperament
was excellent overall, and I found that I did not have to worry about
colour, as all were well within the accepted range. Fronts and feet
were generally good. Most of the toplines and tail sets appeared
correct when posed, despite the prevalence of some exhibitors who were
inclined to over stretch the rears in order to present an incorrect
sloping topline - I tried not to penalize for this handling error,
especially if they carried the correct topline on the move. All my
winners also had good mouths".

Minor Puppy Dog (1 entry)
1st - Kimlise Winslake Mist (Neaves)
Quite a nice puppy, with good colour, well
developed for age (six months), especially in head. It was difficult
to assess movement as he was not too co-operative with young handler.
Puppy Dog (3 entries, 2 absent)

1st - Hanafor The
Xecutioner (Stading)
Puppy in Show
Gorgeous colour, excelled both in side, and
down and back movement. He also has a nice outline when posed, with
good angulation both front and rear, and correct tail set.
Just needs to strengthen a little in head and loin to complete the picture
I found him very promising for his age of eleven months.
Junior Dog (3 entries,

- Tanashka Korona Ace (Pollock)
Junior in Show
Another good coloured dog almost two years old,
nice angulation and topline. Quite a pleasant head, and although he
moved out quite well he was inclined to carry his tail too gaily, unusual
for one with such a correct tail set.
2nd - Paradox Iceana Gold Star Am JH (Imp
USA) (Mallinson)
Although he has a better tail carriage than first,
I preferred the colour and angulation of my first dog. Still a good
mover, and nice topline. For me, I thought he was just a little
heavy in head for 18 months. I am sure they will change places in
the future.

BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW
As soon as the first go around, I was impressed
with the stylish movement of this dog, noting his powerful reach and
drive. After examination I realised that he had all I was looking
for in an 18 month old. Gorgeous colour, very pleasing head and
neck, correct solid topline and tail set, coupled to good angulation both
front and rear. I was anxious to see how he would move down and
back, and he did not disappoint - he was outstanding. If he performs
like this in the future I think he will do a lot of winning.
2nd - Ch Tanashka Magus Krakajak
(Quinn)
One year older than my first dog, has a classic
head, and good colour. Failed in topline and angulation to first
dog, although still moved quite well, and was just unfortunate to meet my
winner on the day.
3rd - Kimlise Sahara Gold (Neaves)
Almost two years old, moved quite well, and
although colour was quite pleasing, I thought the head lacked the quality
of the first two. Also I noticed that on the day his topline was not
quite correct, he appeared a little tucked-up - maybe it was just a
temporary phase.
Australian Bred Dog (4 entries)
1st - Ch Hubertus
Jackpot
(Winch & Johnson)
Australian Bred in Show
Almost two years old. He has a very
pleasing head, and is a good colour, nicely balanced outline, which he
retains on the move, he was also clean moving down and back. When
posed he was sometimes overstretched to spoil the slope of the croup and
his otherwise strong rear. Maybe he still needs to develop in
forechest, but this is being very critical for a young dog of less than
two years.
2nd - Ch
Belabartok Always Jethro (Taylor)
Three years old, slightly more developed in
forechest but stronger in head than first. Moved well from the side
although does not have the good angulation of winner in this class, also a
little untidy down and back.
3rd - Ch Tanashka Acepak Herman
(Quinn)
Five years old, a larger and more substantial dog
than the others in the class, a good colour, in excellent condition, and
his bone does match his size. I prefer a more elegant dog but head
many good qualities, including an excellent topline, croup, and
well-carried tail.
Open Dog (4 entries)
1st - Grand Ch Tanashka Red Ochre Bazel

Reserve
Challenge Dog
Open in Show
Six years old, still has
a classic head, and outline, good angulation front and rear, excellent
topline with a proper croup extending to a well carried tail. Down
and back movement was impressive, but would liked to have seen more reach
and drive in side movement on the day. A close decision with my
Challenge dog from the Intermediate class.
2nd - Ch
Szepzeg Tequila Sunrise (Furlong)
Three years. Not quite as pleasing in head as
first place, but moved out really well with correct topline, but was
inclined to be set-up with sloping topline also spoiling rear angulation.
3rd - Ch Iceana Gold Point ET JD (Mallinson)
Four years. Nice quality in a smaller package, nicely-shaped
head with pleasant expression, nice colour, good outline and movement;
preferred the size of the other two in the class.
Veteran Dog (no entries)
Baby Puppy Bitch (3 entries)

1st - Szepzeg Heaven Can Wait
(Furlong)
Baby Puppy in Show
Almost six months old, nicely put together, and
showing extremely well, very attractive, in all respects, nice outline,
tail set and angulation. For one so young, she scores on down and
back movement. Head just needs to break to complete the picture.
2nd - Hubertus Yahoo Miseree (Winch &
Johnson)
Similar age to first, has a very good head and other fine qualities,
such as nice angulation, and outline, but needs to grow on; she's
not quite as big as others in the class.
3rd - Szepzeg Th Devine Miss M (Furlong)
Similar size to her litter sister, who came first in this class.
Has other similar qualities, and maybe a more developed head,
unfortunately was not showing as well as her sister today.
Minor Puppy Bitch (3 entries, 1 absent)

1st - Kimlise Willow Mist (Neaves)
Minor Puppy
in Show
Nearly seven months, a nice size for its age, excellent body
properties, perfect outline from head to toe. I was impressed with
the angulation and correct tail set. Moved with confidence.
2nd - Kimlise Verdi Valeri (Neaves)
Another quality puppy from this kennel, of similar age to first but
not closely related. A little more mature than her kennel mate and
again has very good conformation. Her head is probably better
developed at this stage. Unfortunately, she was reluctant to show
for her handler.
Puppy Bitch
(1 entry)
1st - Tanashka Korona Szepseg (Quinn)
Nice quality, eleven months old, an attractive colour, has very good
angulation, but loses topline on the move and would like to see a more
defined head for age. She was also coming into season and maybe
because of that, she was moving a little close in the rear.
Junior Bitch

Intermediate Bitch (7 entries)
1st - Ch Hubertus Electric Dreams (Winch

Challenge Bitch
RUNNER UP BEST EXHIBIT IN SHOW
Three years. A medium sized, very sound bitch
with good colour. Head is feminine which matches her conformation,
moderate in most respects, but very balanced and lots of quality,
especially in movement, where she holds a nice silhouette while covering
plenty of ground.
I believe the standard describes her gait better
than I can, ie: animated light-footed trot, elegant and far reaching.
2nd - Ch Hungargunn Rykiel Rose (Cragg)
Almost two years. Has more substance than my
winner, and a stronger head. Posed she appeared to have all the
essentials, but disappointed on the move today - she will have better
days.
3rd - Hanafor Dusis Talisker (Harris
& Stading)
Eighteen months. Medium sized bitch, with a
nice head, neck and topline, a little loose on the move especially on the
down and back.
Australian Bred Bitch (4 entries)

1st - Ch Tanashka Dzsentri Klara (Quinn)

Challenge
Bitch
Four years, nice size, well developed head,
attractive colour, has good topline and tail set, handled and moved with
precision, especially down and back. My notes say she has very good
feet and front. I would just like to see a little more angulation
which would improve side movement, although she was no slouch in that
department.
2nd - Ch
Tanashka Acepak Showgirl (Quinn)
A three year old, rich colour, nice size, balanced
head, stylish and elegant neck leading into a good topline, and tail set.
Moved correctly for the breed, although I would just like to see a little
more forechest to complete the picture.
3rd - Ch
Hungargunn Forget Me Not (Cragg)
Four year old, appeared to have correct proportion,
but was not showing today and so it is difficult to critique conformation,
although maybe she could have a stronger topline even when she's in the
mood, also has a stronger head than I like.
Open Bitch (3 entries)
1st - Ch Hungargunn Femme Fatale (Cragg)
Four years old, nice proportions, good size and
colour, well angulated, nice topline and tail set, has a little droopy
under-carriage which I did not penalize presuming it was from maternal
duties. She did not move out quite as well as I expected from her
conformation. I also thought she was a little houndy in head.
2nd - Ch
Tanashka Acepak Zsofia (Quinn)
Three years old, darker colour than first, and more
correct head proportions. I like her neck, topline and croup with
correct tail set. I thought her rear angulation was great, but to me
it did not balance shoulder angulation, where I would have like to have
seen a little more layback. Otherwise I thought she was a very good
type.
3rd - Ch Iceana
Antiquegold ET (Mallinson)
Four years. in lean and muscular condition
indicating that she may be a hunting dog. The American standard
states: Brawny or sinewy muscular condition and honorable scars
indicating a working and hunting dog are never to be penalized - I was
however judging to the FCI standard. I still thought she was a
worthy representative of the breed, with many good qualities.
